Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others.

Cancer as a metaphor for government

Our government is indeed a cancer. Up until 2008, it has been a slow-growing organism that will eventually kill us, but take many years to do so. The Obama administration is like a testicular cancer, or melanoma (appropriate in his case, don't you think?), which is a fast, raging disease that kills quickly.

Think about it, folks: in the past, our government had to at least give the appearance of legitimacy, going by the rules laid down in the Constitution, although it has found many ways to work around them. Now, however, it completely side-steps all rules that get in its way.

Harry Reid refuses to produce and pass a budget. He changes the operating rules of the Senate at his own whim. He refuses to allow legislation he deems undesirable to his personal agenda to even be voted upon by the members of the Senate.

Obama directs the Department of Justice (what an ugly oxymoron that is) to ignore properly created, passed and signed legislation (such as the Defense of Marriage Act), and writes Executive Orders to circumvent legislation that has been voted down, such as the "Dream Act" making citizens of millions of illegal aliens. The Border Patrol is directed to not arrest, detain, or deport illegal aliens they encounter. BATFE, via the Fast and Furious operation, sells American weapons to the Mexican drug cartels and then tries to blame gun store owners.

The Supreme Court not only determines if a law passed is Constitutional, it creates law by its decisions and majority opinions. (Since when is it right that the opinions of five fallible human beings should constitute the "law of the land" for 300 million Americans?)

Do you truly believe these 545 people are that much more intelligent than 300 million Americans? Even if they were (and they are not), would that give them the right to overrule what the rest of us want?

The system of voting for and electing representatives is corrupted by massive voter fraud, which the politicians currently in office want to perpetuate and grow by denying states the right to demand identification. So millions of illegals vote, millions of people vote more than once, and millions of people long dead vote as well.

Government has grown out of control. It began doing that since it was created, in every form it has taken throughout the history of mankind, but in our case it has been slow, like a prostate cancer that we old guys will pretty much all suffer from eventually, even though most of us will die of other causes before it is able to kill us (although, like government, it will still ruin our quality of life).

Now, however, it has taken the form of a swift and pervasive disease that will disable and mutilate us, make us suffer agony before it kills us. It will kill the old - via the mechanics of Obamacare and the panels which will decide if and when we will receive what little care is available to be doled out to us - and it will kill the youngest, in the form of abortion - including "partial" and even full-birth abortions, where a viable, living newborn baby is killed by the doctor delivering it. (Remember that, those of you who feel aborting a fetus is acceptable. Living, breathing, viable babies get aborted, too. That's a slippery slope that abortion has already slid down.)

Voting is like trying to kill individual cancer cells. Not effective at all. If it were actually possible to vote out every single incumbent (even the few decent ones like the Pauls, Broun, and Coburn), it might work, but the system works to prevent that solution. Radical surgery is required, however I just don't think it is going to happen, short of a complete upheaval or possibly another American Revolution. Even secession won't accomplish it, as the beast that is the Federal government will not permit it, anymore than it would in 1860 when South Carolina was the first to secede.

Obama, and the other tumors our government is riddled with, will kill this country. If we are able to remove that tumor from office, there might still be a slight chance of saving the patient. We are certain to die as a nation if he is given another four or more years to grow.

Whose fault is it, really?

There are many who attribute all of today's problems to one generation. "Kill the Boomers, it's all their fault!" Each generation, as it becomes the current adult generation, could make the same claim. We could go on to say it was due to those of us who allowed Woodrow Wilson and FDR to push us over the edge into socialism, especially with Social Security and then Medicare, but also with the Federal Reserve system, with allowing the Supreme Court to create law ever since Marbury vs Madison.

Many folks claim it is our fault because we didn't elect the right people. To a certain limited extent, this is correct. We have seen that it is possible to elect people who are not beholden to the Democrats or the mainstream Republicans. We proved that in 2010, with a number of Tea Party candidates being elected. And then look what happened. That's right, nothing. Allen West supported renewing the Patriot Act, NDAA, the Pickford legislation giving billions to blacks who never farmed a day in their lives, and other things which run counter to everything we believed he stood for when he was running for office. With the possible exception of Rand Paul, who does appear to stand firm upon his principles, it was a bust.

The political system in America is a creature that is cunning and survival-oriented. It knows how to manipulate and divide the people of this country so they cannot effectively use the only tool we have available to fix things - our vote. How to deceive people who might vote for the right representatives if they weren't lied to, distracted by false claims and bribed by creating whole groups of people who have been taught to think they are entitled to "free stuff", stolen from the productive.

I read a neat paraphrase of Karl Marx's exhortation: "From each according to his ability. To each, according to his need." It goes like this: "From each, according to his gullibility. To each, according to his greed."

Here is an article written by Charlie Reese that is once again making the rounds of the Internet, although it was actually originally written in 1984, back during the Reagan administration. It points the finger where the blame truly lies, but makes the same mistake of thinking we can vote our way out of the problem. Still, it is a well-written condemnation of Congress, The President (whichever one), and the Supreme Court.

545 vs. 300,000,000 People

By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The President does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in a foreign country it's because they want them in a foreign country ...

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees...

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

We often deride people who state the problem clearly, but offer no realistic solution. Since I actually do believe voting is worthless - except in this one instance where we simply MUST remove the cancer that is killing America, the Obama administration - I will offer a solution I have written about before. It is the only tool we have left that might make a difference: jury nullification.

We talk about "the Three Percent" - 9 million out of 300 million people. If far fewer than 3% - say 1 million out of the 150 million+ who are eligible for jury duty (one tenth of one percent of that number) - would vote to acquit whenever one of us is being tried for the unConstitutional laws and regulations that we are hammered by every day, it would be sufficient. Go to FIJA.org, read about the process, and do what you can to convince family and friends of how effective this might be. If we can't stop Congress from passing bad laws, if we can't keep SCOTUS from creating bad laws from the bench, if we can't stop the President from writing Executive Orders, or the EPA and BATF from producing bad regulations they can control us with, then we can at least protect each other from the consequences of those laws, orders, and regulations. Think about it, people.

A Bad Choice Is Still A Better Choice Than Obama

On his blog, Fighting for Liberty, CDP informs us of information that a actual Marxist was involved in helping to write Romneycare, which many consider a model for Obamacare. I wonder if this isn't simply something the Left has provided to the media for the purpose of damaging Romney's chances of getting elected.

Think about it for just a minute: Romneycare was indeed mandated, and shows some similarities with the intent of Obamacare. However, any individual - or group, for that matter - who writes up legislation for socialized medicine is going to be at least a socialist, maybe even a Marxist. Duh. (That isn't aimed at CDP, just a comment that it is obvious that socialists want socialized medicine.)

You need to ask yourself, however, how many pages were in the Romneycare legislation, as opposed to Obamacare? Did Romneycare leave open the ability of the head of whatever agency ran Romneycare to craftany regulations it wanted to implement, the way Obamacare does? Did Romneycare establish committees to decide - later, at its own leisure - what it will allow and what it won't, who may get care and who may not? Was Romneycare written like Obamacare - where even once you passed it you still had no idea what was in it (because so much of the power vested in it is unwritten, to be decided later by administrators and the Secretary of Health and Human Services)? I don't think so.

I would be very surprised if Romneycare, for all it was a socialist mandate and abuse of freedom, had the potential for the total governmental take-over of health care in Massachusetts the way Obamacare does for America?

But, let's leave that aside for now. The bottom line for me is that, socialist or deluded fool that Romney might be, he has never shown the desire to totally "transform" Massachusetts, t0 punish it for being Massachusetts, the way Obama wants to wreck America. Being a LDS member (Mormon), is even in his favor, for the members of that church at least have good family values. What values has Obama shown us? Support for the LGBTs, the muslims, any and all of America's enemies. Support for total governmental control - by the Executive Office alone.

So, let's take this new revelation with a very large grain of salt. It certainly isn't a deal-breaker, and as CDP says, "Don't think for one minute we can stop watching Club Fed." The Marxists are not going to go away, they have insinuated themselves into government at every level. Being complacent and not paying attention is what got us into this mess to start with, back with old Woodrow Wilson and FDR (and before that, truth be told.) We need to keep watching, but I think we will be a lot safer if we do all we can to see that Obama is not allowed to continue the demolition of this country.

A conservative political columnist and Tea Party supporter named David Weinbaum wrote an article in which he stated:

"Our nominee is Mitt Romney. He has flaws. But, so does everyone else. Let me remind you of another candidate. He was a Democrat who became governor of a liberal state. He was president of his union. There was a lot of concern about his intelligence and his conservativeness. That was Ronald Reagan and by most accounts he did all right against Jimmy Carter in a similar situation to what we have now.

Again, if you don't vote for Romney you are voting for Obama!

This is the most critical election of our grandchildren, children and our lives. Ladies and gentlemen: IT'S TIME TO FIRE THE LIAR!"

And so it goes. Or so they would have you believe.

This was a common phrase in one of Kurt Vonnegut's novels. It was meant to describe situations wherein things didn't merely go wrong, but went wrong in a manner that one would expect if you expected the worst behavior from human beings, elected officials, or life in general. It is somewhat equivalent to saying, "Oh, well. What did you expect?"

Isn't that what we are seeing today? A man, in an interview with an obscure religious publication, voices his personally held and Constitutionally protected religious belief that a marriage consists of a man and a woman, and he is vilified. The Left stumbles across this vague reference to what he is expected to believe as part of his religion, and his business is attacked, his rights are denied, and ignorant Leftist scum all over the country project their own illogical hatred upon him.

Do our elected representatives do their best to see that the First Amendment right to express your opinion or hold personal religious beliefs is upheld? Hell, no. They attack the man, too. They encourage the hatred and abuse that the gays and lesbians are heaping upon him.

I have said several times on this blog and in open forum that, when the state wishes to destroy you, they first vilify you. They do their best to make you look like a child molester, a "racist", a wife-beater or other form of immoral, criminal individual (although these days a criminal is simply someone the State takes a dislike to, not someone who has actually even violated a prohibited act or omission).

I read on another web site that - supposedly - someone on the Left had discovered Romney's high school report card, and he had not been a perfect student, had some slight deficiencies mentioned. Now, this could very well have been a spoof, I didn't check to see if it was real. Nonetheless, it struck me as something the Left would do, and not even see how hypocritical it was, since Obama has sealed all of his school records. Not only can we not see what kind of student he was (as if that were actually an issue affecting this election), but we cannot even see what nationality of student he was, since it is believed by many that he was an Indonesian citizen as a child, and used that to gain the preferences that accrued to a foreign student when he attended Occidental College.

The Left pretends concern about human rights, yet ignores the wife and daughter killing perpetrated by the muslims, refuses to extend those rights to the protection of religious belief - upon which this country was founded (don't like it? Go found your own country - somewhere else), refuse to allow effective self-defense whenever they are able to do so, and generally refuse to allow divergent political or cultural beliefs - if you are white, Christian, and straight. If you are gay, lesbian, muslim, or a New Black Panther, you can diverge from society, normal human behavior, and even adhering to the laws to which we straight, white followers of Judeo-Christian values are required to adhere.

It is so very easy to get to the point where you are ready to throw up your hands (as well as just throw up) and say, "Oh, well. What can you do?" If we do that we are wrong. We are not only betraying our own principles, we are falling for a scam the Left is running.

The Left uses the media to make us believe things which aren't true. What a shock! Yes, I know most of you already know that, but many of us haven't taken it to its logical extension: the Left would have us believe that the majority of Americans lean to the Left, that there is no way to fight those numbers.

Look to Chick-fil-A to see the truth. The incredible number of ordinary Americans who rallied behind Chick-fil-A to show their support for the owner's right to hold his own religious, personal (not corporate) beliefs was far greater than they Left would have you know. They did their best to cover up how many people supported Chick-fil-A with their feet and their wallets. Thanks to the Internet, to friends and families telling the truth of what they saw, we know better.

So, don't despair. Don't give up. Yes, things are bad and could easily get much worse. Just realize that there actually are far more of us who refuse to accept the Left's illusions and deceptions than you might be led to think by the media - including Fox News, with Shepard Smith's pissy reaction to the whole Chick-fil-A debacle.

(Is Smith a closet gay? Is Obama a closet gay? Newsweek thinks Obama was simply supporting gays, but if he is re-elected, I think he will come out of the closet. Thanks to Frank Davis Marshall, I think Obama has known the taste of pillows for many years now. And there is simply no way for him to "butch up", limp little worm that he is. Just watch him ride a bicycle or throw a ball. Total fag.)

There are more of us out there than the media and the Left (but I repeat myself) want you to believe. Look at the home health care provider, Julie, who has offered to help Kenny at Knuckledraggin' My Life Away care for his ailing father. As much as I have despaired over how many rude and self-centered people there are in the world, there are still selfless, helpful, considerate folks out there - and the III% movement seems to have a big chunk of that number. Just ask Kenny.

Why Romney is a Necessary Evil

Many of us on the conservative Right (not to be confused with Republicans), Libertarians included, feel that voting for Romney is morally wrong. Many of us have voted for the "lesser of two evils" for many years, believing that Carter and Clinton and others would do more damage than a "left-of-center" Republican, especially ones who voted for gun control, such as Bush, Sr. and now Mitt Romney, and we no longer want to vote if it means we cannot vote for someone for whom it is actually worth voting.

We have never been faced with such a clear-cut threat of the destruction of America before, though. We now have a creature at the controls of the ship of State who is intent upon transforming America into a collectivist State, even if it must be done by driving her up onto the rocks of economic catastrophe and the destruction of our national security. A creature who was born to, raised by, and mentored by admitted Communists. The Left can make all of the references they like about Communism being dead, as Bill Clinton did when he claimed that no American Communist had been seen in over ten years (remember Van Jones, peckerwood?)

I have said it before, and it has recently been reinforced by an article at The American Thinker: He has maneuvered Congress, with the help of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, into providing him with the power to ignore Congress in furthering his agenda. For example, in Obamacare there are written permissions for various "Secretaries" such as the Secretary of Health and Human Services, to mandate regulations and provisions as determined by his/her agency, as well as to deny services at the whim of the agency. So the agency could demand that doctors provide services to illegal aliens while denying the same services to anyone over 65, or who is a Republican or Libertarian, or who had donated to any party other than the Democratic Party. (We have already seen Republican Party donors target by IRS and other agencies, just as Guild Guitars was charged with a violation of the Lacey Act, while Martin Guitars - a Democratic Party donor who used the same source of wood that Guild purchased - was not.)

As the article mentioned above articulates:

"Further, this administration has shown contempt for the courts by ignoring various court orders, e.g. the Gulf of Mexico oil drilling moratorium, as well as stonewalling subpoenas and requests issued by Congress. The Eric Holder Justice Department has become the epitome of corruption as part of the most dishonest and deceitful administration in American history. In a second term the arrogance of Barack Obama and his minions will become more blatant as he will not have to be concerned with re-election.

Who will be there to enforce the rule of law, a Supreme Court ruling or the Constitution? No one. Barack Obama and his fellow-travelers will be unchallenged as they run roughshod over the American people."

It goes on to add:

"Many Republicans and conservatives dissatisfied with the prospect of Mitt Romney as the nominee for president are instead focused on re-taking the House and Senate. That goal, while worthy and necessary, is meaningless unless Barack Obama is defeated. The nation is not dealing with a person of character and integrity but someone of single-minded purpose and overwhelming narcissism. Judging by his actions, words and deeds during his first term, he does not intend to work with Congress either Republican or Democrat in his second term but rather to force his radical agenda on the American people through the power he has usurped or been granted."

It sounds trite to say, "This time it really is important to vote for the lesser of two evils", but trite or not, it truly is the most important thing we can do. It doesn't matter that Romney is practically a Democrat or that he voted in favor of gun control, or that he originated legislation containing a health care mandate in Massachusetts.

As bad a choice as he is, he will not continue down the same road as Obama. He will not work to dismantle our military, our nuclear deterrent, our national security. He will not leak vital national security secrets, will not provide Russia and China with details of our missile systems, surveillance satellites, or submarine propulsion systems (a Clinton betrayal). He will not seek to help install Muslim Brotherhood governments throughout the Middle East and Africa, while working for the downfall of the State of Israel, our only ally in that region. He will not sabotage our oil, natural gas, and coal industries, will not try to drive the costs of electricity and gasoline up to where many of us will have a difficult time affording it. Even more importantly, he will not work to hand our sovereignty as a nation over to the U.N., allowing them to determine when we should go to war, what we can do with the resources of our country and offshore waters, or whether or not Americans can keep and bear small arms and ammunition.

There are many reasons why Romney is one of the last people we should be voting for, but not as many reasons as Obama is the very last person for whom we should be voting. But beyond that, Obama must be defeated, because we have seen proof that he will ignore Congress, the Supreme Court, the Constitution and the very rule of law upon which our country depends for justice and for liberty.

Every Man A Felon

It has been said many times that the way for government to control people is to write so many laws, create so many regulations, that no person can escape violating some law or some regulation which provides for criminal penalties. In such a situation, any one of us can be arrested, tried, and convicted even though there was no intent to violate a law or regulation. Indeed there are so many laws, and so many regulations which provide for criminal penalties when violated that no man or woman could possibly be capable of knowing them all, even if he or she devoted their entire life to such study.

Even if they were capable of discovering where the information could be located - not all of the laws and regulations are available at a library or on-line - and read every word, much of it is written so obscurely that it cannot be understood, even by those who would enforce such laws or regulations. Think of how much of the tax code is not even understood by the IRS agents who decide whether or not you have violated any of it.

The Cato Institute has produced an article on this topic. Tim Lynch testified before Congress on the subject, as it pertains to an attempt to simplify Federal criminal code so that citizens aren't subject to criminalization when there is no bad intent (mens rea) or when the law is simply not understood. Worse, Federal criminal code is often so poorly written, in such a broad and ambiguous manner that Federal prosecutors can get people convicted in spite of the fact that they have not even violated the law - save for how the prosecutor interprets the law to mean something else entirely.

Most people in the "gun culture", as John Ross calls it in his book Unintended Consequences, will recall the case of David Olofson. He was convicted and sent to prison because a semi-automatic rifle he owned malfunctioned and fired more than one round with a single pull of the trigger. The BATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) tested his rifle and initially determined that it was not a machine gun, because it was broken and had simply malfunctioned. An immoral and ambitious agent of the BATF had the rifle tested again, this time using ammunition with soft primers which were able to fire the ammunition even with a light touch of a broken firing mechanism. After repeated attempts, she was able to get he rifle to fire more than one round with a single pull of the trigger, and then had a prosecutor charge Olofson with having transferred a machine gun into the possession of another person.

In spite of the fact that the gun was proven to have been broken, and the fact that intent to commit the crime was not provable (because the intent never existed), the court ordered Olofson imprisoned because the technical definition of a machine gun - as established by the BATF, not by legitimate Congressional legislation passed and signed into law - was met. So this young man was taken from his wife and small children and placed in prison, made a felon, because he had loaned a broken (unbeknown to him) rifle to another man.

The Cato article states the fact that:

In America alone, there are over 4,000 federal criminal offenses. Under the Lacey Act, for instance, citizens and business owners also need to know – and predict how the U.S. federal government will interpret – the laws of nearly 200 other countries on the globe as well. Many business owners have inadvertently broken obscure and highly technical foreign laws, landing them in prison for things like importing lobster tails in plastic rather than cardboard packaging (the violation of that Honduran law earned one man an eight-year prison sentence). Cases like this make it clear that the justice system has strayed from its constitutional purpose like stopping the real bad guys from bringing harm.

It goes on to say:

We face a Congress that puts forth an ever-increasing volume of laws in general, and of criminal laws in particular. It should be no surprise that as the volume increases, so do the number of imprecise laws. And no surprise that our indulgence of imprecisions that violate the Constitution encourages imprecisions that violate the Constitution. Fuzzy, leave-the-details-to-be-sorted-out-by-the-courts legislation is attractive to the Congressman who wants credit for addressing a national problem but does not have the time (or perhaps the votes) to grapple with the nitty-gritty. In the field of criminal law, at least, it is time to call a halt. [Ed: “We have to pass the law to find out what is in it.” Nancy Pelosi]

Please read the whole article. It is a bit lengthy, but there is a lot of information there, with explanations of concepts that used to be common knowledge before Congress and the courts - including SCROTUS - removed them from the lexicon of justice.

Also, please consider going to FIJA.org where you will learn about the most powerful tool possessed by those would regain Liberty. Not a .50 BMG Barrett sniper rifle, but the principle of jury nullification. If it were understood by a large enough number of people and put into practice, no law or regulation created by Congress or a bureaucracy run amok could harm us.
